#weebthusiast EP13 – Slice of Life Anime and Attack on Titan S4P2 Ending Reactions

Hi hi, on this episode, I had some new faces with me as we discussed some of our favorite Slice of Life animes and the ending of Attack on Titans S4P2. With my friends Patrick and Josh, we talk about what animes made us cry and why we love Haikyu, Your Lie in April, and (of course!!!) Shingeki no Kyojin. The first half is pretty lighthearted, but towards the end, we pulled a college discourse about the themes within AoT and why they are essential for us to think about as our world continues to repeat history.

#Weebthusiast EP11 – Anime Los Angeles Recap with Emilio

Well, well, well, after taking a year off, Anime Los Angeles returned last weekend at the Long Beach Convention Center. I, of course, went and did a little cosplaying, made some friends, and even had my own slice of life moment. IT WAS AMAZING. So in this video, you’ll see me recount (the stuff that I’m allowed to say on YouTube) to Emilio as we share a few laughs about my Weebventures!

Also, I say nerds and weebs a lot in this video but I say it out of love. Because, as you already know, I’m a huge geek and share the highs and lows of what it means to be a part of this culture. So, I jest.

#sorryasianparents EP15 – When Are You Too Old For Your Hobbies and The Rise of Nerd Culture

Hi hi, I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted a video on this channel (life is still crazy), but I’m still here and bugging my friends to make podcasts with me. In this episode, Laura and Lance join me in a conversation about the rise of nerd culture and how things are…better? I guess. We also dive into discussions about what it means to be an American and find your identity and sexual identity during the growing pains of high school.

#Weebthusiast EP10.01 – Emilio, Mario, and I Bro-Down Over Demon Slayer…Again

**** WARNING: THIS IS FULL OF SPOILERS ***

In another segment of “Emilio Watches Anime,” we talk about his reaction to Kimetsu no Yaiba and the movie Mugen Ressha-hen. This isn’t an actual name for a segment, but it might as well be. My good friend Mario joined us for this recording of two average bros just talking about how awesome Demon Slayer is and why Tanjiro is da man! We share a few laughs and tears as we talk about why the Best Husbando title goes to Kyojuro Rengoku.

I know I already did an episode on Mugen Train, but we didn’t get to have Emilio’s smile, I mean input, on the series/movies. This is part one of two (I am pretty limited on time due to work), and the second half, where Emilio educates us on why mouse-and-keyboard is superior to controllers in FPS, will come out shortly. Get really for bickering of two inputs in the next one…gonna be a lot of Destiny 2 and CSGO talk…

#Weebthusiast EP09 – Emilio FINALLY Watches Shingeki no Kyojin So We’re Geeking Out

So…It finally happened; Emilio watched Attack on Titan. In one week, this man powered through all the current seasons (so far). We had a fantastic time going over some of the themes in the anime, what we thought was cool, and who we hated. There really isn’t much structure to this episode because we’re both just too excited to get it all out there. So fair warning, we will be jumping around…a lot.

#Weebthusiast Ep08 – We LOVE the Demon Slayer Mugen Train Movie!!!

Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen . . . I know if I didn’t post the Japanese title, I would probably get flamed for it, but WE WATCHED IT!!!! And it was EFFin AWESOME!!! I don’t know how else to start this description. Crazy, first time in a long time, I’m dedicating a whole episode to anime. Yay!!!

My friends (Lance, Jerome, Cameron) and I decided to get together and talk about how we felt about the movie, themes, symbolism, what it did right/wrong, and all that stuff. So join us as we break it down with a few laughs. Shout out to our friend Anthony who is missing from this video.

#Weebthusiast​ EP07 – The Justice League Snyder Cut and the DC Universe (Comics and Animated Movies)

Hi hi,

We’re back again with some more comics stuff. A few weeks ago, the long-awaited Snyder Cut of the Justice League dropped. So you know we’re (obviously) going to be talking about it. It will be I, Emilio, and the man who brought the BDE for this conversation, Justice. 

In this episode, we will touch on the history of the Snyder Cut, toxic fandom, Whedon getting canceled and accountability in Hollywood, and a bunch of other things. But the majority of it will be us fanboying over some of the phenomenal DC Comics storylines that haven’t been brought into live-action yet (i.e., Flash Point, The Button, Death in the Family, Death of the Family, Infinite Crisis). 

Lots of laughs in this ep because we have lots of passion for the DC Universe and the stories of the heroes we grew up with. There is a link to Comics Explained video of The Button arc. #Weebthusiast EP06 – GME Recap, Shingeki no Kyojin, Jujutsu Kaisen, DC Animated Movies, and Arby’s

spoNx and I are BACK!!! It’s just us this time as some of the other guys take a little break. In this video…well, we’re kind of all over the place. We start with recapping the last time we met up (GameStop, MEME’in our dreams into reality) and then debate why manga/anime seems to be getting more popular in the West. If you’re expecting to learn something, you’re in the wrong place since we kinda just skim the topics. I Miss Being Weird At Anime Conventions – Weebthusiast

 

Man, I miss anime conventions. But, you know, 2020 was the year of everything getting canceled. In this special clip, Emilio, Garret, and I are just talking about anime cons. We quickly touch on Fanime, Crunchyroll Expo, and Anime Los Angeles. You will get a chance to hear about some of the cool things we have experienced, the weird, and our past/future cosplay ideas. This video isn’t a full episode, but it’s still a great chuckle.

Usually, I would release a whole hour+ episode before I clip the video, but (not going to lie) we kind of went off the rails and just spitball hella subjects. So it didn’t make sense trying to make a coherent episode out of our ADHD conversation. Don’t worry; I’m still going to create long-form content that many won’t watch in the future. I guess this is a good chance for you to see how much of a weeb I am…especially when I get on a rant about after con dances, the H-tai room at Fanime, and other weird stuff I said. Weebthusiast EP05 – Mental Health and Why We Play Video Games (Especially during quarantine)

 

Hi Hi!

 

Well, it surely has been a while since I last posted a video on here. I haven’t stopped uploading, though; I’ve been posting videos on my other channel #sorryasianparents. But I still haven’t forgotten about this baby. Many of us Weebthusiasts have been busy with other projects, but we try to get together as much as possible and make some new content. 

 

In this episode, Justice and I welcome our new friend Emilio on the show. It’s a new year, but everything still feels about the same. Since we are entering another stay-at-home order and have a new face, we decided to talk about how playing video games affects our mental health. We touch on what games we are currently playing, the community we have formed, and the positives vs. negatives from partaking in this digital pastime. We go on a few tangents, but we can’t help it. We’re just a bunch of excited gamers who are eager to share a piece of our minds.
